Originally created as a transracial parenting support group by Dr. Ruth McRoy and Ora Houston of St. James Episcopal Church in Austin, TX in 2003, Parenting Across Color is growing from a local support network to a national resource for transracial families everywhere.

We believe that by providing parents with information, encouragement and tools, our children can grow into their fullest potential as members of their cultures of origin and citizens of the world.

Parenting Across Color has given us resources, support and love from those who really understand and care for our unique family. My kids have gotten to see and meet other families that don’t fit in the typical mold. We also have a place to talk through the issues and concerns of raising children with a mix of cultures.
