Great news Parenting Across Color members! In October 2011, we received a grant from AdoptUSKids to provide respite care for members! This means we are able to offer FREE babysitting every other month for 4 hours! Your children will be cared for by trained professionals who are familiar with the issues many of our kiddos face. Kids will be entertained with arts & crafts, movies, games, and snacks. To register your child for a Parent’s Night Out (PNO) event, contact Amy Ford.
What began as a simple parenting group in 2003 has blossomed into a thriving organization with another milestone on the horizon.
2003 – Transracial Parenting Group is formed at St. James Episcopal Church in Austin
2005 – The Transracial Parenting Group becomes Parenting Across Color
2009 – Parenting Across Color is incorporated
2010 – Parenting Across Color becomes a 501(C)3
2011 – Parenting Across Color implements an annual membership fee of $30 per family
This is truly another milestone in the life of a growing organization.
Membership fees will make it possible to continue providing free child care during the monthly meetings as well as provide beverages for the monthly pot luck dinner. In addition, members will receive:
* Priority access to respite care
* Discount for Camp Baobab
* Discount for events sponsored by Parenting Across Color
Membership forms will be made available at the September meeting and also mailed to regular attendees the following week. Membership is available to any family as all are welcome!
