Culture Camp
Parenting Across Color is proud to present the second annual culture camp taking place in Austin, TX July 30 – August 4 (Monday – Saturday) at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church on Great Hills Trail from 9 Am – 4 Pm.
Please join us for this exciting event in which transracially adopted children will be immersed in African American culture through music, dance, art, theater, and history. Camp highlights include Hip Hop dance class, Play Therapy with local counselors, Theatrical production of African Fables, Field Day, and Kona Ice! Dance and theater performances will take place at the end of the week. Don’t miss out! Register today! There is only space for 50 campers. Camp tuition is $100 per child for members of Parenting Across Color and $145 for non-members. Tuition includes lunch daily and t-shirt. Membership in Parenting Across Color is $30 per family per year. Registration deadline is June 1, 2012.
A Parenting Conference will take place on Saturday, August 4 from 9 Am to 3 Pm. Topics of discussion include racial identity, white privilege, and dealing with racism. Lunch is provided by Olive Garden and participants will receive 2 books – Growing Up Black in White by Kevin Hofmann and Brown Babies Pink Parents by Amy Ford. The cost is $26 single or $35 couple. Foster parents will receive continuing education hours.
