Skin Care
1. Use Cheer-Free or Tide-Free detergent to wash clothing and linens. The products are both dye and preservative free.
2. Avoid the use of fabric softener dryer sheets. These can leave a residue on clothing and linens that can be very irritating to the skin. If you must use fabric softener, use a liquid one for sensitive skin in the washer.
3. Double rinse all clothing and linens.
4. Use a mild cleanser to bathe with. Our recommendations are fragrance-free Dove soap or Cetaphil soap-free cleanser. Nonsoap cleaners can be substituted for soaps.
5. Take SHORT lukewarm baths instead of showers.
6. Use a good moisturizer all over the body within THREE MINUTES of getting out of the shower, such as Cetaphil, Eucerin or Lubriderm cream. Be sure to get the CREAM, NOT LOTION, as creams are usually thicker, smoother and more moisturizing.
7. Evidence shows that it is not the type of fabric (natural or synthetic) that is associated with skin irritation but rather the texture and roughness of the fabric. Usage of washcloths and sponges should be avoided.
